In November 2025 we announced that the Valencian Institute for Business Competitiveness (IVACE) had awarded us the SENSOR FUSION project. Today, with the project completed, we can finally show you what we have built.
The result is a complete wearable system: a patch with textile electrodes and an optical sensor, a mobile app that displays every signal in real time, and a web platform that stores each person’s history. In a single session it can record synchronised channels of ECG, EMG, bioimpedance, PPG, NIRS, temperature and motion.

From the initial challenge to the result
We set out to bring together, in a single wearable system, technologies that today usually require separate equipment: electromyography (EMG), electrocardiography (ECG), near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), bioimpedance and inertial sensors (IMU). That goal has been achieved. Along the way we have added photoplethysmography (PPG), temperature, elongation and body angles.
The patch: every signal from a single point
The patch is the part in contact with the skin. It integrates textile electrodes for the bioelectrical signals and, in the centre, an optical sensor that measures through a window in the holder. The electronic module clips on top and sends the data to the phone.
The textile holder is reusable, and we have developed it in several formats to suit different areas of the body and use cases.

Eight types of signal, live on the phone
The mobile app connects to the patch via Bluetooth and displays each signal live, grouped into eight blocks: EMG and ECG, bioimpedance, PPG, NIRS, temperature, elongation, motion and angles. The optical signals provide pulse (PPG) and tissue oxygenation (NIRS), while the inertial sensors provide motion and orientation in three planes.
A web platform to track progress session by session
Every session is saved to a web platform that organises each person’s history. The main dashboard summarises how different parameters evolve, calculated from the various signals recorded. In addition, each channel can be reviewed in full or in 1-minute, 30-second or 10-second windows.

Data ready for machine learning
Fusing signals makes sense if they are then analysed together. Each session is stored with all its channels time-aligned. This is the foundation the project’s machine learning layer needs to detect patterns between muscle activity, haemodynamic response and movement.
Applications and demonstrations
SensorFusion is designed for companies and institutions to integrate into their own products and services. These are the areas where it adds the most value:
- Rehabilitation and physiotherapy: objective monitoring of muscle function and mobility throughout treatment.
- Performance sport: analysis of load, fatigue and technique by combining physiological and motion data.
- Universities and research centres: synchronised multi-signal recordings without the need for bulky equipment.
- Biomedical and wearable companies: integration or licensing of the multisensor platform to speed up their R&D.
As announced, we are now ready to run demonstrations: if you would like to see SensorFusion in action or explore how to integrate it into your project, get in touch.
SENSOR FUSION has been funded by the Valencian Institute for Business Competitiveness (IVACE) of the Generalitat Valenciana and by the European Union.
