Blautic is taking part in a strategic project funded by IVACE+i together with leading technological and clinical partners
At Blautic Design, we are committed to applied innovation and to directly improving people’s quality of life. That is why we are part of the KINESSENSOR project, a high-impact collaborative initiative whose objective is to develop a portable advanced-sensor system—integrated into kinesthetic bands and orthoses—to monitor in real time key physical parameters associated with musculoskeletal disorders.
This project is particularly significant in the current context: musculoskeletal diseases affect more than 1.7 billion people worldwide, according to the WHO. The need for objective, precise, and patient-tailored solutions is urgent, and wearable technology stands out as one of the most powerful tools to revolutionize rehabilitation.
What is the challenge ?
The focus of KINESSENSOR is on arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI), a neuromuscular dysfunction that prevents the voluntary contraction of the quadriceps. It is common after injuries such as anterior cruciate ligament tears or in degenerative conditions like osteoarthritis. This condition complicates recovery, increases pain, and greatly reduces functionality.
To address this clinical challenge, the project proposes a comprehensive solution based on three pillars:
- Flexible sensors integrated into wearable devices to capture muscle and movement variables in real time.
- Wireless communication for continuous data transmission and analysis from any environment.
- Applied artificial intelligence, capable of detecting anomalous patterns and assisting clinicians in therapeutic decision-making.
In addition to its clinical use, the system will allow patients to continue their rehabilitation from home, with precise and personalized guidance.
